I use the light on my bike ride to work. You can buy Velcro straps to attach the light very securely to your helmet. It's not entirely legal on the road, but you can use it at night in the country when there's not much going on. If there's oncoming traffic, you can quickly turn the light off or fold it down to avoid blinding you. But I would always recommend it in addition to a handlebar light. The battery lasts long enough, but I haven't measured it. Great for the money.
This is my most expensive head torch to date, having bought around 5 in the last 10 years. Previous torches didn't power for too long before becoming just a glow, on a standard 6 hour shift. This head torch however does more than one shift, how I'm not sure, but it does. The internal fixed battery must be sizeable. The forward projection of the torch on my forehead is short so it doesn't get knocked about when I am under a car or head down in the engine bay. Stick out head torches, like my others are a pain. I have had a very good brand headlamp for years, but when I tried this one you realise that technology has evolved a lot. Today's LEDs are very powerful and consume very little.
The headlamp is spectacular because it has many modes and various LEDs that allow you to play with the light beam according to your requirements.
This past weekend I used it on an ascent to a 3,000 m peak in the Pyrenees, where we left at 6 in the morning and our first hour and a half was exclusively walking with the headlamp. With the mode that turns on the side LEDs you have a wide field of vision and a perfect intensity for the night in the mountains. If you need greater light intensity at a more distant point, the front LED provides it. And if you only want a weak light to use in a shelter or tent you have it too. It's perfect.
The sensor to turn on and off with the movement of the hand works great too.
The battery lasted without problems for the hour and a half of walking.
